| Mode Of Action | Predominantly class III anti-arrhythmic effects. It prolongs myocardial cell-action, potentiates duration and refractory period. Also non-competitively inhibits ? and ? adrenergic` receptors. |
| Drug Indication | Tachycardia associated with Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome, flutter and fibrillation, ventricular fibrillation resistant to other anti-arrhythmics, supraventricular, and nodal and ventricular tachyarrthymias. |
| Precautions | To be initiated under specialist supervision or in a hospital, renal / hepatic / cardiac impairment, electrolyte disturbances, photosensitivity, thyroid abnormality, patient on other anti-arrhymics, general anaesthesia. |
| Contra-Indications | Hypersensitivity to the drug or any of its components, severe sinus-node dysfunction, second and third degree AV block: unless used with pace-maker, it should be avoided in syncope caused by bradycardia, iodine sensitivity, CHF, severe arterial hypotension, avoid intravenously in presence of severe respiratory failure, thyroid dysfunction. |
